  • How can I place a hold on a book?

    To put a hold on a book that is currently checked out, just press the Place Hold button on the book's details page.

  • How will I know that the book I put on hold is available?

    You will receive an email as soon as the book becomes available. You will then have 72 hours to download the book. If you don't download it in the alloted time, the book will be put back into circulation or passed off to the next person on the holds list.

  • How long do I have to download the book I put on hold?

    You have 72 hours to download the book starting from the moment you receive the email notifying you that it is available. If you don't download it in the alloted time, the book will be put back into circulation or passed off to the next person on the holds list.

  • Can I cancel a hold I placed on a book?

    Yes. To cancel a hold, go to your account my clicking on My account in the top right corner. Scroll down to the Holds section and click on the Cancel Hold button to the right of the book.

  • Are there charges if I don't download the book I put on hold?

    No. If you don't download the book in the time alloted by your library, the book will be put back into circulation or passed off to the next person on the holds list.

  • Where can I see a list of books I put on hold?

    Go to your account my clicking on My account in the top right corner and scroll down to the Holds section.

  • Are holds now available for loans counted in the holds limit?

    Yes. Regardless of the status of your hold, it is counted in your holds limit. To put on hold another book, you can cancel a pending availability hold or download a hold now available for loan to free up a spot.

  • Why does the availability date for my holds keep changing?

    The date displayed is an estimate based on the current status of loans and bookings. It is normal for the displayed date to change if there are unrecovered loans or early returns on books you have reserved.

  • Can I return a book before the loan end date?

    Yes. To know how to return a book early, refer to the last section of the Startup Guide for your device.

  • I delete an ebook from my device, but the loan still appears as active in my account. How can I return the book?

    There is a difference between deleting and returning a book. Deleting a book removes it from your device, but doesn't return it to Bibliothèque cantonale et universitaire de Lausanne. If you delete a book, it will still show up as an active loan in your account and you can still redownload it until the end of the lending period.

    If you have deleted a book and would like to return it, you need to download it again from your account, and then return it from your device or e-reading app.

  • Why can't I return a book from my account?

    For technical reasons, all returns must be done from the device or app authorized with your Adobe ID.
